I was honoured to be asked by Ladida magazine to be Guest Judge of the ‘Best Dressed Owner & Pooch’ at Ladida’s Posh Pooch afternoon tea at Hotel Du Vin Newcastle. My date was no other than Dolly, our 11 year old Italian Bolognese. Yes, doggy lovers, Hotel Du Vin is dog friendly! Your furry friends can have afternoon tea with you and even stay the night.
We took the girls with us and on arrival we were given a glass of bubbly, Dolly was given a non alcoholic version in a water bowl and we watched the various dogs arrive from cute pugs in pink sweaters to three legged rescue dogs in handmade tuxedo harnesses.
An event for the Dogs Trust, our four legged friends were served afternoon tea and all behaved very well. Handcrafted bow ties and rosettes were sold by Bow Wow Ties , woof dog beer was clunked and specially made woofilicious cupcakes and biscuits were served. Dolly is very fussy when it comes to food, she normally turns her nose up at anything that isn’t bonios or chicken however she demolished the doggy cupcakes supplied by doggycake.co.uk and even had one for breakfast the next day!
There was a photobooth with props and crowns, Dolly chose the tiara of course! Later there was a fashion show of Holly & Lil collar and leads with tweed coats supplied by The designer Dog company. Dolly particularly liked the leopard and pink lead and collar combo but skipped the trying on as she felt bloated after her high tea!
Dolly and I couldn’t choose a winner so we chose two lucky owners and their pooches who both won afternoon tea with a friend and their four legged friend at Hotel Du Vin. You can have brunch or afternoon tea at Hotel Du Vin with your pooches so go and check it out. Here’s to more dog friendly places in the North East!
With many thanks to Linda and the Ladida team for a lovely day out with my fave, Dolly x
