Burberry’s SS16 show at London Fashion Week stirred up some history as well as the future of the fashion industry. Burberry are the first to sell pieces from their new collection straight after their streamlined live show. Welcome to the new world of fashion at its fastest.
Set in a multi room hall with a noble ambience, Anna Wintour sat with her son and daughter on the frow along with Alexa Chung. Actor Nicholas Hoult sat next to a Vamp looking Cara Delevine. A live orchestra created the soundtrack.
Christopher Bailey mixed Old English style structured garments with Victorian inspired feminine ruffles and luxurious fabrics from metallic brocades to silk shirts worn under velvet jackets. Military style structured jackets were worn over romantic floaty dresses with irregular hems. There was a hint of 1970’s influence with ruffle detailed style shirts and striped silk pants. Silk pyjama style shirts and trenches were worn over dresses clinched in at the waist with a wrap around skinny belt. Berry tones merged into nudes, a hint of leopard and the traditional Burberry trench was reworked with waterfall edges. Shades of black and khaki contrasted crisp white.
My fave item has to be the Cavalry jacket and the khaki military style trench. Shop the Show here…
